16 Oct 2013 Golden Snake
Second time’s a charm… I remembered returning to New York after finishing the Fortune Dragon Gala, and the first thing I did was tell my Sass N’ Betties’ team that in a year’s time, we would all be traveling to Guam to put up their next gala performance. Flash forward a year later, there we were, directing, choreographing, and rehearsing for The Golden Snake Gala’s “CCCG All Stars Revue.” I was beyond ecstatic to bring my amazing team back with me: Choreographer- Mallory Butcher, Dance Captain- Jordanna James, and PR vixen Lizzie Randall. We’ve been working together since 2011, and were extremely honored and excited to take on this project.
Rehearsals began in NYC, with us filming all of the choreography and sending it to Guam based dance captains Billy Hon and Jill Otte from Sandcastle. We had twelve numbers to get through and less than two weeks to physically put it together. This time, the entire stage was our playground and we were determined to top the performance from the year before. Sass N’ Betties teamed up with the CCCG All Stars: Pelin Randall, Fred Horecky, Cencio Tan C. Vy, and Mike Pangelinan, Telephone Boys (Fortune Dragon Gala celebrities): Peter Lai, Peter Chui, Benson Au-Yeung, Gary Sung, Jack Chan, and Billy Hon, CCCG Board of Directors, Taiwanese singing sensation Coco Fan, The Sandcastle performers, and our very important surprise guest performer President George Lai. The cast was a mix of professional and amateur performers, teamed with Sandcastle’s incredible crew, and we were unstoppable!
Needless to say, the show was a HIT! We definitely pulled out all the stops and wowed the guests! Everything culminated in the grandest of finales, and when “Gangnam Style” played, every single person took to the stage and danced their heart and soul out! This time, it was more than just a dream come true, it was witnessing the awesome power of positivity and team work. The “Golden Snake Gala: CCCG All Stars Revue” was proof that nothing is impossible, no matter how difficult or outrageous the circumstances, because hard work, positivity, and faith can make anything possible!
